Xbox 360 Wireless Rock Band Guitar

I am one of those people that was waiting for the Xbox 360 Wireless Rock Band guitar to come out. Why it was not released the same time as the Rock Band “special edition” like it was on the PS3 still baffles me. Was it that much harder to implement this on the Xbox 360 vs the PS3? Eh, we can save that for another day.

So, I have the guitar and have used it now multiple times and I must say that my experiences with the new Xbox 360 wireless guitar have been nothing short of what I expected it to be. The guitar itself is nearly the exact same as the original wired guitar controller, but of course it is wireless. I have not had the controller miss any button presses, the button response seems the same, and connecting it to the 360 was no problem at all.

Overall I am very pleased with this product, but I have heard that some people are having problems with this guitar. Seems that for some it doesn’t always go into overdrive when you tilt it for everyone. While I do tend to have problems getting into overdrive I am pretty sure that my problem is caused by user error. :) Others who use my guitar don’t seem to have a problem, but I can understand how frustrating that can be. So for all of you here is a video that shows you how to fix this problem. I have not personally done this, but it appears to be a very simple thing to try if you are having problems.

I am a normal guy who loves to play video games. My current favorite system is the Xbox 360 and the game I am stuck on (read addicted to) right now is Rock Band. I also have a Wii along with most of the consoles from the past, such as a Super Nintendo, original NES, and a Sega Dreamcast.

  1. Thank you for this video. I’m going to try tonight and *fingers crossed* will be overdriving to the latest Avenged Sevenfold DLC this evening.

  2. I wish you luck my friend. Let me know how it turns out.

  3. Well, I tried it. No dice. But, watching your video a 2nd time, I realized that I flipped over the piece but also rotated it 180 degrees. In your video, you didn’t rotate it 180 degrees. So, not sure if that will do anything, but will try again tonight.

  4. Yeah, tried this and it didn’t work for me either.

  5. This fix didn’t work for me either, but in the process, I found a different solution. When I opened the guitar, I noticed a loose black wire with a stripped end. Turns out there was also a single back wire attached to the motion sensor with a neoprene connector sleeve, but no other black wire connected. I went ahead and joined the two black wires within the neoprene sleeve and everything worked fine after that.

  6. @BonzaBonz: Great man. I’m happy you got that working I know how frustrating it can be when stuff doesn’t work like it should.

I will update this post with your comment soon… would you like to put together a little step-by-step on this? I would be glad to past that up here to help others.
