With the Nintendo Wii being such a big hit it is causing other software/hardware companies to explore the possibilities of interactive gaming. One of these companies, Softkinetic, is working on a project that would allow us gamers to control the on screen movements of our characters by using a wide range of what they call “natural movements”. Depth-sensing cameras paired with Softkinetic’s software will be used to calculate a players body position and movements to make this interactive gaming possible.
“You don’t need a controller in your hand,” says CEO Michel Tombroff. “You don’t need to wear a special outfit. You just come in front of the camera in your living room, and you start playing by moving your entire body.”
I don’t know about you, but this really excites me, epically being a fan of sports games I will finally be able to use my out of this world stiff-arm against the competition!
