Ok, well, John Mayer didn’t exactly slam guitar hero. He feels that it does not provide the thrill a real guitar gives and has urged fans to learn to play the guitar instead of using the game to get the experience.

Mayer said: “Guitar Hero was devised to bring the guitar-playing experience to the masses without them having to put anything into it. And having done both, there’s nothing like really playing the guitar. I mean, what would you rather drive, a Ferrari or one of those amusement park cars on a track?”

While I find the comparison pretty funny I do have a response to this: Hey John, I love your music man, and I have played the guitar a little bit, but not all of us can play the guitar like you can man. I’m sure that if I could play the guitar and sing like that (and date Jessica Simpson) that I would be much happier playing the real guitar as well. Not everyone is musically inclined either and with Guitar Hero and Rock Band now they feel like a rock star for a minute or two.
